Prudence is the first doe of Priscilla who has had 14 bucks in the last 5 years.  Her first year she had twin bucks.  All the rest were triplets.  In the previous post of Megan feeding to kids, she is 2nd from the left.  Priscilla is currently making 10 pounds a milk a day (about a gallon plus a quart). Here is Megan feeding baby goats.  At first all kids are fed 3x a day by hand for about 2 weeks.  Buck kids transition to 2x a day gang feeders (3 nipples on a bucket) after they are 2 weeks old.  The older does transition to 2x a day but still by bottle at two weeks.  After 3 weeks some doe kids are also transitioned to gang (3 nipples a bucket) feeders.

Made it out to Urinetown, a Middlebury College Town Hall production at the Town Hall Theater.  The hopeful swelling progressions of song and dance numbers helped us weep, giggle and smile. Even cleared out I know the neat rows of running shoes in the walk-in closet, weather radio on the sill, dusty pillows on the guest bed, creams for split knuckles, humming of the printers, Bach Arpeggione, Copper Ale and tin of cashews.

just making sure I have this handy for flu season. works well for for goats w/ scours too. Ingredients:1 quart water4 tablespoons powdered sugar1 teaspoon salt1/2 teaspoon baking sodascant orange juice or other juice to improve taste.Directions:Mix (shake) ingredients in a mason jar. even a teaspoon (frequently) at a time helps to hydrate the dehydrated.

On the way home from picking up Mr. C from daycare, things got a little hairy, so we stopped at Brad's and picked gooseberries, raspberries, currants, blueberries, and cherries. Managed to make preserves w/ all of those cherries, and one little 1/8 pint of jam (which was preserves cooked another 15 min). The jam is the little jar with darker contents. mmmm. The big jar in the back is preserves, but I have in mind making a pie with the contents for Valentines day....

Cut little incisions about 1 cm all over the meat. Marinate leg in olive oil and a rub of fav spices and or chopped fresh herbs and olive oil, possibly soy sauce for as long as possible. Insert into a 450 oven for 1/2 hour then, turn it down to 400 for another 45 minutes to around 140 or so deg F temp.

Our friend Dan Robertshaw, from whom we buy some of the milk used to make Twig Farm Tomme also makes bird houses which are exceptional. Dan harvests the wood for the houses from his land and mills it himself with his personal saw mill located in his barn.

We stopped by our neighbor Rusty's sugar shack for the first boil of the season this past Sunday afternoon. The sugar is collected mostly through a pipeline system. It takes about 35 gallons of clear sap to produce one gallon of maple syrup.
