Spring Ephemerals

Attendance at yesterday's Middlebury, VT earth day festival had not been on the calendar, but the lure of the drumming circle sucked us in after church. Folks from age 1ish on up joined together to discover more inner rhythm than we thought we all had. Butterfly winds, old rags, tape and sticks made for great materials to turn ourselves out for a parade. A terrific psychedelic band and an a capella group got us dancing. There was really good swag in reusable shopping bags given away to coop members renewing memberships (cookies, apples, Lake Champlain chocolates, Vermont Soap Factory samples, and coop t-shirts!).

Following the earth day festival was a car nap and hike up snake mountain. Trilliums covered the forrest floor and bluets were gorgeous at the summit. Here's a link to a blog I just discovered with photos of all the "spring ephemeral"...
