Otter Creek Canoe Trip

Yesterday we all canoed (well floated) up the Otter Creek from the covered bridge on Swamp Road, Salisbury, VT to the Mr. Ups portage in downtown Middlebury, VT (just before the falls and the new bridge). We did it without much paddling in 3 hours. The distance is about 9 miles.

About 1 mile north of the covered bridge put-in is a historcal marker on the west side of the river that reads,

This marks the spot of Ann Story's cave used as a place of refuge

against the invasion of the Tories and Indians erected in honor of and for her loyalty to the Green Mountain Boys by Mary Baker Allen Chapter
