Visit to New York

Just before the kids came we were able to squeak in a visit to New York City to visit a few really good restaurants and cheese shops.

Spicy Dinner at Fatty Crab Friday night. Waiter poured shots of watermelon juice for our pre-schooler. Decandant crispy pork belly app. Cubes of search pork belly on top of same size cubes of watermelon. Wonderful instructions for the steamed pork belly from the waiter had me wishing we ordered 2 sets. Danaube (a farm raised cod like fish) was short lived on the plate. We stopped by a coffee shop for a huge quantity of ice cream afterwards.

Waved at Benoit at Saxelby Cheese on Saturday morning.


Enjoyed a lollipop with Eisha at Formaggio Essex Market.

Glamorous and fun Brunch at Schiller's with friends. Bread basket was out of this world. Seared tuna salad so good. Michael had the croque monsier all perfect. Carter devoured the waffle, followed by a chocolate ice cream served in a gravy boat, which really is the perfect serving dish for chocolate ice cream. Ambiance is lively relaxed and happy.

I forgot my camera at Minetta Tavern, which was just as well as it wouldn't be possible to do justice there. A brussel sprout salad with a poached egg dressing reminded me of the other perfect egg I ate at Arpege ten years ago. The burger had me gripping the table to keep from sailing off. Cheeses were extremely cleanly cut. Chocolate soufflee was critical.

Recovered at Lunch Sunday at Marlow & Sons with our former intern Andrew Morley and his fiance Laura. Best was a soup special ribollita. There's a scale in the bathroom - I did not do a before and after though.

We are looking for your cheeses at the Pike Place mrkt to no avail!! Whatever shall we do! We must try it!!
Also -a scale in the bathroom at a RESTAURANT......well that is almost more than a girl could bear!!!

Love the writing. We are hungry now and must scavenger around Pike Place for something that will satisfy the hunger pangs you've stirred.
